Overview of the Course

The structure set up for this course will provide a broad foundation upon which you may build your own “Temple” of practice. It has been broken into monthly lessons to allow for integration of the subject matter, time to practice new skill sets and ease of pace.

The first six months is meant to form the Roots of a broader tree that reaches up and out as far as you can will it to be. We establish these roots by examining the Natural world of which we are daily a part and the Divine World to which we aspire. The meanings of the Great Wheel of cycle and celebration and the physical Tools of the craft and their use in creation of Sacred Space complete this cycle of studies.

As we grow in abilities and understanding we are ready to reach out while also looking within. These next six months develop the concept and identity of the Magickal Self and the establishing of a Personal Practice that is supportive and nourishing to maintaining its structure. As we move further into the reaches of the sky we look at the impact and use of Lunar and Solar Magick honing our skills of Divination and Operative Magick. Having established the framework of our place within the mundane and spiritual worlds, we take a look at those Hidden realms that lay just at gate’s edge. And, finally, having come to a place of stability and understanding of the Wiccan path we reach outwards toward the Greater Work to be done within our community.

The final lesson gives opportunity to look back at the road we have traversed, the ethics that we have come to develop and how and with whom we wish to celebrate and share our newly found knowledge. Each, of these lessons build upon the other, as well as being written in a way that they may be extracted to stand alone as tools of learning.

The time frame of “a year and a day” is meant to be defined as a linear container that may be more easily followed. There is, in truth, no magickal end date that will confer upon you all of the knowledge and lessons surrounding any serious self-directed spiritual path, whether it be Wiccan or any other. No humanly conceived end date will ensure that the information will be received, digested and assimilated into the very core of your Being. The reality is that the learning is “life-long”. The lessons are continually evolving, changing and transforming just as we (and the Gods and Goddesses) evolve, change and transform. And, most importantly, if one allows themselves the delusion of believing they know it all and are a completed product- that stream of knowledge will cease, the skill set becomes adulterated and warped by human will and the place of grace and deeper gnosis will wither and dry.

Allow yourself to take whatever time is needed to fully understand each of the monthly lessons. As you move through several months, frequently, go back and re-read the prior lessons,; for as you build up the foundation and then go back and have another look, greater detail is revealed.

The Core Components

Each month will provide an exploration of that month’s topic. Suggested Readings will be added as the lessons progress and in accord with each added subject matter. Links will be activated each week on the Lesson Index Page for easy access to older lessons as we progress. The Recommended reading Page will also be added to with each month’s lesson.

The Foundations of Practice page will include the key components of journaling, physical-spiritual exercises and observation practice to strengthen your visualization skills.
Our first practice is one of beginning a Magickal Journal.

As we continue on the journey, additional and related Resources of Quality will be made available. These will include podcasts, interviews, stores, and a Book of Shadows of some of my own personal rituals, spells and correspondences.

So, in keeping with expansion, personal growth and change which are key ingredients to Wiccan spirituality this course will expand and grow and held within the space and guidance of God and Goddess will offer a path to inner transformation.

It appears there is no work to be done this week. Am I correct in saying that? Or am I missing something in the passage written this week?

Thank you so much for creating this course! I have been looking for something just like this and committed to working through the whole course from new moon to new moon starting at Yule 2014. Today I start Lesson 2 and am amazed by how much information is contained in it. This is such an amazing resource and such a blessing to find it! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the time and hard work that must go into creating and posting these lessons. Bright blessings! Amy
